St. Maarten Carnival 2008 on track
April 11, 2008
St. Maarten Carnival 2008 season looks like its on track according to organizers who are awaiting the opening on April 17.
Twelve permanent booths including a police substation are on stream for the opening of the Festival Village also on Thursday, April 17. However, the stadium seating and VIP boxes will not be ready for use because of material delay. Some minor works will be carried out on the pavilion raised seating during the Carnival festivities. These will not affect the activities in the village, according to Head of New Project Development and Planning Kurt Ruan.
Along with the police substation, two automated teller machines (ATM) from RBTT Bank and Windward Islands Bank will be housed in the two-storey pavilion. The completion of the twelve booths will bring the number of booths in the Festival Village to 80.
