A Billfish for a brand new Porsche
June 11, 2008

So you’re saying that all I have to do is turn in a Billfish and I get a brand new Porsche. Okay, what’s the the catch… your billfish has to weigh at least 782lbs. Are you up for the challenge?
On the heels of the 2008 Fishing Event just concluded on St. Maarten, the 11th edition of the St. Martin Billfish Tournament starts - June 11-22, Marina Fort Louis, Marigot.
The organizers expect some 30 boats, 150 participants from around the region and scores of curious visitors to the docks to witness the daily catches and take part in programmed activities and entertainment held at the waterfront turned Billfish Village of tents accommodating 3 restaurants, a wine bar and exhibitor and sponsor stands.
The heaviest marlin weighed-in to date is 781lbs reeled in by La Reverende in 2002. To win a Porsche Cayenne valued at $70,000, anglers need only break this record by at least 1lbs. That or the prize for the heaviest marlin under record wins $5,000, with second and third most points winning $2,500 and $1000 respectively.

This long established tournament hails its success from the love of the sport, four days of intense competitive fishing, feast, fun, unforgettable friendships and the the quality of the fishing zone — Marlin Boulevard — second to none.
