TS Dolly is taking a more northerly course and could aim at Louisiana

July 20, 2008

St. Maarten and Saint Martin Weather - Tropical Storm Dolly.

St. Maarten 1am, July 21: Earlier forecasts had Tropical storm Dolly moving west northwest and thus reaching the Yucatan peninsula crossing over and emerging in the gulf of Mexico, but it seems Dolly will stay over water and take aim at Louisiana or the Panhandle of Florida.

The change of course may make Dolly much more dangerous in the near future since a continued strengthening is likely and reaching hurricane strength by this morning in stead of Wednesday as predicted.

Should Dolly stay on this course, it will cross between the Yucatan Peninsula and the most western tip of Cuba and enter more favorable waters for a continued growth of the system. Dolly could become a major storm by Tuesday with winds reaching cat. 2 strength by early Wednesday.

On this slightly different course the storm will more like impact Louisiana or the Panhandle of Florida in stead of the forecasted track towards the Gulf coastal areas of Mexico or Texas.

Florida and Louisiana Residents should monitor this storm with greatest care since it is uncertain how Dolly will develop over the next couple of days.
