St. Maarten and Saint Martin Weather

One of the two heavy thunderstorm clusters has developed now into a possible hurricane in the next 12 hrs located some 125 mi south southeast of Port au Price Haiti. TS/Hurricane Gustav will not affect St. Maarten and on its most likely track will take it into the Gulf of Mexico by Saturday.

August 26, 2008 - Today: Rain showers in the morning with scattered thunderstorms arriving in the afternoon. High around 85F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60%.

Tonight: Scattered showers in the evening, then variable clouds overnight with a better chance of showers. Low 78F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 50%.

Tomorrow: Rain showers in the morning then thundershowers in the afternoon. High near 85F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 60%.

Tomorrow night: Showers and thundershowers likely. Low 79F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60%.

Thursday: Thundershowers. Highs in the mid 80s and lows in the upper 70s.

Friday: A few thunderstorms possible. Highs in the mid 80s and lows in the upper 70s.

Special Features: A disturbance some 400 miles to the east of St. Maarten may need some monitoring since conditions for development have become more favorable. Most likely this system will stay well north of the northern Leeward Islands. A second large disturbance just rolled of the coast of Africa and is holding together. It is located some 300 miles east south east of the Cape Verde Islands. This one bears monitoring as well.
