St. Maarten and Saint Martin Weather

TS Gustav, was hurricane and will be hurricane again once over open waters, is stalling over Haiti dumping massive amounts of rain over mostly de-forested terrain. Life threatening mudslides are the greatest serious risk. Gustav will take a more westerly course bringing it between Cuba and Jamaica later today or tomorrow morning.

August 27, 2008 - Today: Rain showers and blazing sun will take turns in the morning then thundershowers in the afternoon. High around 85F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 60%.

Tonight: Scattered showers in the evening, then variable clouds overnight with a better chance of showers. Low 78F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 50%.

Tomorrow: Showers early then scattered thunderstorms developing later in the day. High near 85F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 50%.

Tomorrow night: Showers and thundershowers likely. Low 79F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60%.

Friday: Thundershowers. Highs in the mid 80s and lows in the upper 70s.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy, chance of showers. Highs in the mid 80s and lows in the upper 70s.

Special Features: Perched between Gustav and its outflow and a disturbance to the east of St. Maarten, we could see a rolercoaster ride from sunny and clear to thunderstorms developing at a “heartbeat”. This will continue into the weekend. A thunderstorm clusterIt is located some 450 miles east south east of the Cape Verde Islands. This one bears monitoring.
