St. Maarten congratulates President elect Obama
November 5, 2008
The Caribbean dual Island Nation St. Maarten and Saint Martin jointly congratulated early this morning Senator Barak Obama in his victory for Presidency of the United States. Like many other countries and islands in the world anxiously awaiting the outcome the elections, St. Maarten joined in the celebrations that erupted across the globe.
The sentiments of a first African-American becoming the World newest leader after 8 years of misery under George Bush has sparked hope that the current recession will be shortened and the tourism driven economies in the Caribbean won’t suffer great blows in the so important upcoming high season.
Many see the “change of winds” as a positive sign that the US economy will re-bounce based mostly on sentiments and not on economical facts.
Truth be told in the next couple of months if this “change of winds” will hold up and a spiritual change in mentality can influence a slumping world economy.
