Cuba hit
August 18, 2008
Tropical storm Fay has struck Cuba’s south coast with high winds and heavy rains, after leaving at least five dead in its path across the Caribbean.
The Cuban authorities declared a state of emergency and evacuated more than 10,000 people in eastern and central areas before the arrival of the storm.
Forecasters say Fay is expected to strengthen as it moves across Cuba and then towards the Florida Keys, where officials also declared a state of emergency and evacuated visitors
