PORTRAIT OF THE ARTIST

E.A. Izzard was raised in the Mid West. Eager to leave small town mentality, he seized the first opportunity and moved to Paris where he learned the language and began appreciating European culture and its quality of life.

He wanted to stay in Europe at all cost and so accepted a job with NATO however being part of the system was against his nature. A rebel at heart, his paintings became an outlet. His works were non-conformist and anti-establishment but with a great of humor and sarcasm.

He used a lot of industrial materials and paint and always insisted on having two titles for each painting. Who knows why. To the common eye, his work was eccentric and off the wall but so rich in its messages that anyone could relate in their own way.

He never held an expo although he laboriously went through the process of planning Paris exhibitions to systematically renege at the last minute. According to Ernest and in his own words, he was afraid of success. So today, his art hangs in his family’s homes across the globe.
