Born: Marie-Hélène Corne. November 6, 1960. Franche-Comté, France.
Living on St. Martin, French West Indies since 1995.
EDUCATION: Autodidact.
PORTRAIT OF THE ARTIST:
Born in a small village of the Franche-Comté in France, her desire to travel transported her across Europe and the third world.
In 1998, distraught by human misery, she transcribes the cry of the people through her work and her figures.
Inspired by music and dance, her oil paintings are essentially centered on the Caribbean.
Since discovering Havana, the artist also draws her inspiration from scenes of Cuban life.
Apart from working on canvas, Mhelen expresses herself in interior design by painting murals.
